Material Processing

Carver has the capabilities to manage all material processing of our metals in house as part of our 24-hour profile workshop, ensuring high levels of control and efficiency savings.

Material processing is an essential part of the steel fabrication process, as this is where we create the individual components that form the basis of your structural steel product.

Case Studies

A look at our recently completed projects…

Material processing: Precision and quality control

Our skilled workforce will work to highly precise specifications to ensure maximum efficiency and structural integrity.

Inside our 24-hour profile workshop, you’ll find a range of cutting edge technology, including our CAD/CAM programmed CNC machines based on 16.5 x 3m water beds, band saws and two 10t cranes.

All of the above are expertly wielded to produce a high quality fabricated product to form your steel fabrication. As well as steel, we work with numerous, exotic metals depending on the requirements and constraints of your specific project with minimal disruption to your operations.

Innovative heating technologies for increased efficiency

Carver’s dedicated pre-heating area allows for an optimal heated environment at specific temperatures depending on the materials we’re working with.

Being able to exactly specify the heat of our materials enables our engineers to quickly and efficiently cut the material down to size.

Furthermore, having a dedicated space in our facility for this function means zero downtime during the cutting process, keeping our engineers protected from the heat and ensuring maximum production is achieved.

Engineered for minimal waste

We’re committed to providing turnkey engineering solutions. Simply bring us your ideas, and we’ll take it from there.

We use software such as Lantek Expert for managing our advanced mechanised cutting process. This powerful CAD/CAM nesting tool minimises waste produced during material processing, lessening the environmental impact of our production, and providing cost and efficiency savings that we pass onto you.

Utilising this technology also means we’re able to reduce total programming and cut time on our CNC machines, contributing to our overall efficiency. This is one of the reasons we’re able to produce highly customised projects on tight timeframes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Material processing refers to the series of techniques and operations used to transform raw materials into finished products or components. It involves various processes such as cutting, shaping, joining, and finishing to modify the physical and chemical properties of materials to meet specific requirements.

Material processing plays a crucial role in sustainable manufacturing practices by optimising material usage, reducing waste, and minimising energy consumption.

At Carver, we most commonly process steel to create fabricated structures such as bridges. However, as many of our clients operate in the mining and marine sectors, we are also experienced in processing more exotic materials suited to these specific environments.

This will depend on the scale and complexity of your project. When you commission work with Carver, you’ll work closely with a dedicated project engineer who’ll be able to advise on estimated timelines for your project.
